So, this is one of my last projects – fur in Houdini.
For better understanding what is going on, I have decided to create my own fur tool. It works similar to feather tool. Shading and rendering is also done by me in Houdini, mantra renderer was used. The compositing model and animation done by Platige Image studio
And here is fur stylise progress and tests also shader and lightning development:
Commercial made a while ago by Platige Image. I was responsible for fluid simulation done in Realflow, shaders, lightning and rendering done in Houdini.

Today SideFX relased public beta of osx Houdini version!
“The public beta release is available today for download on all platforms. 3D Artists can participate in the public beta using Houdini Apprentice or Houdini Apprentice HD which contains all of Houdini Master’s features except for third party rendering and FBX export. These non-commercial editions of Houdini are ideal for learning the software and working on personal projects and demo reels”
Houdini is another great 3D animation package with fluid based particle simulations. Just like realflow it can simulate fluid systems but also provides infinitive possibilities like generating fluid mesh during redendering process. Houdini is allso well known as L-systems builder and it’s based on nodes. It uses it’s own “Mantra” renderer and also work with Pixar’s Renderman, Mental Ray, Maxwell and probablly few others. The coolest part of all is the news about osx Houdini version

Best way of quick learning your new software is to watch few basics tutorials
Just finishing Digital tutor’s set and waiting for cool 3D buzz DVD to arrive.
I’ll keep posting about my progress and hope that my next project will be fully done in Houdini :p
