So, this is one of my last projects – fur in Houdini.
For better understanding what is going on, I have decided to create my own fur tool. It works similar to feather tool. Shading and rendering is also done by me in Houdini, mantra renderer was used. The compositing model and animation done by Platige Image studio

I had similar problems in Poland but this is not about me :)
Just found this story on motionographer site, story of one Freelance artist and problems in one of LA studios. This is good advice for all freelancers, how to start cooperation and how to ract when there is something wrong.


I don?t write this to intentionally bash the company, but more to make other artists aware of what their legal rights are and what you can do when a company attempts to do you wrong.

Long Live the Funeral!!! [2008]
“Niech żyje pogrzeb!!!” is a bitter comedy about the problems that emerge on the borderline of two cultures: Polish and German, modern and traditional, religious and secular. The death of MartaRose, of the main protagonists,becomes a chance to re-establish the relationships between family members living on both sides of the border.
Directed by Dariusz Błaszczyk.

I have designed and created first CG scene about a year ago (with help from Maciek Stanisławski from Lunapark studio/3D team who has animated and rendered blood cells sequence).
Rest of visual effects scenes and whole post production was made by Lunapark studio.
Maya 2008 and Renderman was used.

[RF] scripted particle scatter

compare02Of course You can cover up an object with Realflow particles by using “Fill_Object” emitter but then You cannot control and randomize particle placement. So I have created this little script that is going to be a part of incoming, bigger script ;]
Also RF have problem with covering polygons (You can see gap on the edges). With higher surface tension, you will only get bigger holes. This script deals with such problems. Area of each polygon is also calculated so it creates more/less particles when needed.

[RF] Targeting in Realflow

Normally to target an object, You would have to play with matrix but Realflow have better way.

You can easily define any kind of emitter and target object (it’s better to use Null object that You can parent to anything You want )

Paste script below on “event script editor”, over “onSimulationStep” definition.

Last year I have been working on few fluid scenes for upcoming Polish movie – ‘Magic Tree’ (Magiczne Drzewo) directed by Andrzej Maleszka [POLISH TRAILER]

Here are two scenes created in Realflow4 rendering and compositing done by Lunapark guys.

[RF] Foam on custom wave object (v1.2)

I’m posting little, free script to add and control foam on custom wave object (for eg. imported from dreamscape).
This little script will get verticies out of custom object over given Y value, get their velocity and add Particles in that position. I’m using Null object to better visualize Y threshold value.
I have also added random function for little variation when adding particles.
